I am a retired prison guard with post trauma stress disorder who has found recovery in the 17th century philosopher, Baruch Spinoza. In 1984, already with an M.A. in sociology, I wrote my Doctoral Dissertation in Social & Political Thought at York University. Then I placed it in a shoebox and chose to become a federal prison guard. I spent over eighteen years at Collins Bay Penitentiary in Kingston, Ontario.
